The Learning Curve

Learning to Swim

When I was about 5 I broke my arm when I fell of a Horse (the one you put a quarter in) and we were at my Grandma's Pool. My dad being drunk (the way he mostly was) came over to me while I was sitting at the edge of the pool picked me up and said it's time for you to learn to swim and threw me in. I learned how to swim good circles that day and we did have to get a new cast..

Learning to Drive

When I turned 15 my Dad actually bought me a car it was a 69 Ford Falcon. We had to drive to McKinney Texas to get it once there we drove around a parking lot he showed me how to shift gears. He said you got it good keep up with me and he got in his car and left. I drove about 35 MPH along the highway to get back home he then yelled at me for going to slow. He never said anything about a drivers license or anything. I never got a license until I came back from serving in Korea in 1985.

Learning to Throw a Baseball

When I was about 7 my Dad got me and him a baseball glove. Once in the backyard we threw the ball he said I'm going to throw it as hard as I can and you will either catch it or its going to hit you. I had so many bruises it was nutz but I did learn to catch.
